Our very old decorative cherry blossom tree has really rallied this year. Last year it did very poorly, barely flowered, and I was talking about having it taken out. I cut it back a lot (quite brutally I have to admit) last autumn and standing under it now I can hear dozens of #bees in the canopy. It stays. #savethebees #pollinators #grow #gardening #blog

One size doesn’t always fit all, or, in other words, the standard solution doesn’t always work out. We have eight small bantams in a Mark 1 Eglu Cube. We don’t get eight eggs every day even when they are all in lay, which suits us fine. Over the last two days I’ve noticed eggs laid on the roost bars. Rather than being cross at the #backyardchickens I’ve adapted by taking out the rear set of roost bars and putting in some more nest boxes. It doesn’t bother me when they sleep in the nest boxes either – surely they know what they want to do more than I do! #grow #blog
